About Naples Day Surgery (NDS)

What is NDS?
Naples Day Surgery and Naples Day Surgery North are freestanding surgical centers providing an affordable alternative for quality outpatient services. Naples Day Surgery, LLC (NDS) is an organization that was formed in 2001 as a physician-hospital joint venture to own and operate two multi-specialty surgery centers in Naples, Florida. Previously owned and operated by the NCH Healthcare System (owners of Naples Community Hospital and North Collier Hospital), NDS operates these multi-specialty surgery centers for elective surgery patients who are able to go home the day of surgery. Naples Day Surgery South was opened in downtown Naples in 1986. Naples Day Surgery North was opened in 1992.

Mission
The administration and staff at Naples Day Surgery, LLC are dedicated to providing high quality, easily accessible outpatient surgical, endoscopic, and pain management services in an efficient yet compassionate environment. Naples Day Surgery, LLC is responsive to the needs of our patients, physicians, and the community.

Our Services
Services are provided to the patients of our surgeons. In a typical month, we have over 50 surgeons performing surgery on approximately 500 patients at our two surgery centers. In addition, we typically perform over 100 GI endoscopic procedures a month, and treat over 500 patients a month in our two pain clinics located within our surgery centers. Our surgical specialties include orthopedics; general surgery; ear, nose and throat (ENT); gynecology; ophthalmology; retinal surgery; podiatry; plastic surgery; and gastroenterology.

Alliances in the Community
Our surgery centers have a strong alliance with the NCH Healthcare System which owns North Collier Hospital and Naples Community Hospital. This helps to ensure the outpatient surgical needs of our community are met, both now and in the future. We also have a strong alliance with physicians in the community. This is evidenced by our over 20 surgeon owners who understand, and agree with, the mission and vision of our company. Accreditation: Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

Vision for the Future
NDS is committed to maintaining state-of-the-art equipment in its surgery centers. It has purchased new Fuji endoscopy scopes, Stryker, Arthrex, and Dionics orthopedic and gynecology equipment for both facilities, new GE fluoroscopy c-arms for both surgery centers, new microscopes for our surgeons, new anesthesia monitors for both facilities, and a wide range of operating tables, stretchers, and other equipment to help ensure our surgeons are provided with the best equipment possible for their patients. In 2007, it has purchased a new medtronic image guided system for ENT procedures, a medtronic microdebrider, and an RMD navigator. NDS will continue to grow and upgrade its facilities to meet the needs of our growing community.

Patient Satisfaction

Our patients are provided with Patient Satisfaction Questionnaires at the end of their day of surgery at NDS. Approximately 98% of our patients rate their experience as very good to excellent. The patient responses often name specific individuals who are with the patients throughout their visit. The overall theme of our patient responses is one of appreciation for making the patients surgical experience a very positive one.

Administration and Leadership
NDS is governed by a well rounded board consisting of seven physicians, a senior officer of the NCH Healthcare system and the Executive Director of NDS. Day-to-day clinical management is provided by the RN directors of Naples Day Surgery North and Naples Day Surgery South. These directors both have over 12 years experience with our organization. Our business director has been with NDS for 5 years and manages all business functions, information technology, and our medical records department. Our compliance officer has been with us 20 years and handles all compliance issues and serves as risk manager.
