Welcome

We're pleased that you
and your physician have
chosen NDS for your procedure.
Our staff of professionals
provide personalized quality
care safely and economically.
We encourage you to ask
questions and to let the
staff know of your special
needs. In order for us
to provide you with a
safe and comfortable surgical
and anesthesia experience,
please read and follow
the instructions below:
- Do Not Eat
or Drink Anything
After Midnight on
the Night Before or
the Morning of Surgery.
This includes water,
gum, mints, or hard
candy. Brush your
teeth, gargle, but
do not swallow any
water on the morning
of surgery. If
you eat or drink,
your surgery may be
cancelled!
- Do not smoke the
night before or the
day of your surgery.
- Notify your doctor
if you develop any
signs of illness prior
to your surgery. Report
symptoms such as high
fever, sore throat,
or other infections,
breathing difficulties,
or chest pain.
- Please shower or
bathe the night before
or the morning of
your surgery.
- Wear loose fitting
and comfortable clothing.
Sweaters are suggested
for comfort.
- Do not apply body
lotion or makeup on
the day of surgery.
- Please leave all
jewelry at home. If
you have body piercing,
please remove them
at home. If you wear
glasses, contacts,
or hearing aids, please
bring a case for their
safekeeping.
- Arrive at the surgery
center promptly. Late
arrival may necessitate
cancellation of your
surgery. A staff member
will be calling you
the day before to
tell you the arrival
time.
- Please arrange for
someone to drive you
home. For your safety,
you will not be permitted
to take a public conveyance
or to drive yourself
home. You should not
drive or operate machinery
for 24 hours after
sedation or anesthesia.
- A responsible adult
must be present to
accompany you to your
home. We strongly
suggest that all patients
have an adult at home
with them for the
first 24 hours after
surgery.
- One parent or guardian
must stay in the facility
at all times while
their child is in
the surgery center.
Parents or guardians
should observe children
closely upon return
home.
- Special
Medication Instructions:
Please take all your
routine morning medication
with a sip of water
as soon as you get
up the morning of
surgery. This includes
blood pressure, heart,
and water pills.
If
you are a diabetic,
do not take your medicine,
but bring it with
you.
Your
doctor has asked you
to fill out a Pre-Assessment
Form
and
Pre-Admission
Demographic Form.
This will be reviewed
by a registered nurse.
If there is a need to
clarify information,
you may receive a phone
call. We look forward
to caring for you during
your surgical procedure
at NDS. |
